Inclusive exhibitions and interpretation

Earnscliffe specialises in inclusive exhibitions and interpretation. We have worked with exhibition designers and curators on hundreds of ground breaking exhibitions. We have also been retained by several national and local museums, among them the National Museums Scotland,  V&A, Museum of London, National Maritime Museum and Brighton Royal Pavilion and Museums to work on rolling programmes of gallery refurbishment.

We can help you:-

  • plan the layout to enable visitors to move about freely and take rests
  • review lighting, decor and sound output to meet the needs of those with sensory impairment
  • develop accessible interactive displays with clear instructions
  • select appropriate objects geared to particular audiences, such as touch objects for visually impaired people
  • advise on sound enhancement and non-audio interpretation for deaf audiences, such as BSL and subtitling
  • run practical workshops to test and refine design prototypes
  • review the content, style and format of graphics
  • advise on new technologies such as smart pens and talking tactile models
  • identify opportunities for the representation of disabled people and their experiences
