American Express, Brighton
Earnscliffe was appointed by Sir Robert McAlpine to assist EPR Architects create a flagship Headquarters in the historic centre of Brighton for American Express. The 1970s office building no longer met the demands of the company or of its employees. A particular challenge in creating an exemplar of inclusive design was the building’s location on a steeply sloping site. Earnscliffe worked closely with EPR and the company’s Access Group to ensure that all areas of the 350,000 sq ft 12 storey building, from the underground car park to the restaurant terrace were welcoming and easy to access by everyone.
